SuperSwim: The Origin Story

SuperSwim: The Origin Story

As the saying goes, “Necessity is the mother of invention.” It’s certainly true of SuperSwim. See, over thirty years ago, a man named Don Bellerive needed to swim, but he was limited in his swimming options and only had access to a small pool. He found that he kept veering into the walls, and he kept interrupting his routine when he would have to slow down to make a turn every few strokes. As a former body-builder and S.C.U.B.A. diving instructor, health and fitness had always played a large role in Don’s life, and he was frustrated that he couldn’t get the workout he wanted. So, he decided to do something about it!

He realized he needed equipment that could keep him stationary in the pool, without hindering his mobility. He put together a swimming harness, a tether, and a flexible rod, and SuperSwim was born!

FAMILY-OWNED AND OPERATED

That was over thirty years ago, and the company has been in the family ever since. We’ve expanded our product line and enhanced our equipment, but our focus has always been on allowing swimmers of every age and caliber to swim in place and get the most from their pool resistance exercises.  There are now three generations of the Bellerive family committed to that goal and working to keep SuperSwim’s reputation as the best swim tether on the market!

We are proud of our involvement in the Southwest Florida community and beyond. We’ve developed relationships with coaches, trainers, swim clubs, universities, and high schools. You can find our products at:
